Now a multi-service company offering graphic design, printing, direct mail, data base services and Real Estate information, SLOCO Data had its beginning in 1987. In that year, founder Julie Hanford launched a real estate database program, marketing the data to real estate professionals who used the information to prospect for new accounts and track market share.
Before long, Julie recognized the need for other database-related services. She began helping small firms target and reach their customers cost-effectively by organizing periodic cooperative mailings to specific residential areas, utilizing her homeowner database.
The cooperative mailings introduced direct mail to many smaller companies for the first time, and some of them decided to do customized mailings in addition to the cooperative efforts in which they were participating. So began SLOCO Data's Direct Mail services.
In the process of helping her customers design and print the pieces they were bulk mailing, Julie soon recognized that many of her customers needed desktop publishing or graphic design assistance, one difficult to find, the other costly. Hiring out the printing for the cooperative and customized mailings was also becoming a noticeably big expense for her customers, so Julie decided to solve both problems at once. She brought graphic design and print services in-house. She passed the savings on to her customers, offering them the convenience of start-to-finish services, as well.

Before launching SLOCO Data, Inc., founder Julie Hanford spent over 13 years in information management. In her last position before starting the business she was with a major corporation, responsible for an entire MIS department and charged with developing, analyzing, testing, and debugging database systems.
